A national park and, since 2015, a tiger reserve across the Shivalik foothills between Haridwar and Rishikesh, home to wild Asian elephants, leopards, tigers, deer and more than 300 bird species. Jeep safaris run from mid-November to mid-June; the Chilla zone, about 20km from Rishikesh, is the most accessible. Book through the forest department or a registered operator.
