About Cheonggyecheon Stream

A stream through downtown Seoul that lay buried under an elevated highway until 2003, when the city tore the road down and restored the water; the 5.8km downtown stretch opened in October 2005. The sunken walkway of stepping stones, small waterfalls and bridges starts at Cheonggye Plaza near Gwanghwamun, and it's a calm, well-lit route to walk alone in the evening.
