Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
A UNESCO World Heritage landscape — 600 hectares of spectacular ancient rice terraces following the traditional Balinese Subak irrigation system that has been in unbroken use for over 1,000 years. Far less visited than Tegalalang, Jatiluwih offers undisturbed panoramas of layered green terraces against Mount Batukaru and Mount Agung. A 2-hour drive from Ubud but completely worth it.

Tegalalang Rice Terraces
Bali's most photographed landscape — and genuinely breathtaking in person. Go early to have it almost to yourself.
🏔️
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
A 12.5-hectare sacred nature reserve in the heart of Ubud, home to over 1,200 free-roaming long-tailed macaques and three ancient Hindu temple complexes dating to the 14th century. Moss-covered stone carvings, towering fig trees, and walking paths through dense jungle. One of the most atmospheric and photogenic places in all of Ubud.
🏔️
Campuhan Ridge Walk
Ubud's most beloved morning walk — a 3km ridge path through sweeping green hills and rice paddies above the Campuhan river valley, with views all the way to Mount Agung on clear days. Free, safe, and manageable solo. Start at 6am for mist, bird song, and the magical quality of early Balinese light. Ends at local warungs and the Neka Art Museum.
