Solo Travel Tips· Solo Friendly

Berlin is one of the world's great solo cities — the coworking and café scene is extraordinary, the museum island is world-class solo, and the nightlife is some of the planet's most interesting (Berghain aside, most clubs and bars welcome solo visitors openly). The street food on Markthalle Neun is a perfect solo evening. The Berliner Dom at dusk, the East Side Gallery, and Checkpoint Charlie are all excellent solo cultural walks.

A long-running, sociable hostel at Rosenthaler Platz in Mitte, with dorms and private rooms, a café, a bar and its own microbrewery, and a busy events programme. It's well placed for the U8 and tram lines, and a very easy base for meeting other solo travellers and exploring Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg.
