El Valle de Antón sits inside an ancient volcanic caldera — extraordinary geothermal hot springs, El Chorro Macho waterfall, a wonderful Saturday artisan market, and the Square Trees (an unexplained natural curiosity) make for an excellent solo day or overnight. The town is very safe and walkable. An easy 2-hour drive from Panama City. The butterfly farm and La India Dormida ridge hike are perfect solo additions.
