Moshi is the Kilimanjaro base town — everything here revolves around the mountain. Solo trekkers are completely normal on Kili; you'll be grouped with other climbers on any of the routes. Choose a reputable operator for the climb (KPAP-recommended operators pay porters fairly). Acclimatize in Moshi for a day before starting; the coffee farm tours are excellent solo.
