Solo Travel in Ohrid

Macedonian cuisine at Ohrid lake — the restaurants along the old town waterfront serve Ohrid trout (pastrmka), a locally endemic fish, with ajvar, meze, and homemade wine for prices that feel impossible. The lakeside terrace dining with a view of the Byzantine churches is the defining Ohrid experience.
