Costa Rica
About Puerto Viejo for Solo Travelers
Costa Rica's Caribbean soul β a Rastafarian beach town of chocolate farms, Bribri indigenous culture, and the Jaguar Rescue Centre, where solo travelers find a side of the country most visitors miss entirely.
Solo Travel TipsΒ· Solo Friendly
Puerto Viejo on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast has a completely different character from the Pacific side β Afro-Caribbean culture, reggae music, and the Bribri indigenous communities give it a unique atmosphere. The Jaguar Rescue Centre is a wonderful solo morning. The beach road south to Manzanillo is perfect for cycling. The coast is more laid-back and less commercial than anywhere else in Costa Rica.
