A Rishikesh institution just off Ram Jhula at Swarg Ashram, open since 1958 and famous for its vegetarian thalis — rotis, dal makhani, paneer, kadhi and rice on one plate. Look for the man sitting outside with a painted face and a long choti (topknot), ringing a bell: he's the restaurant's living mascot and happy to pose for photos. A classic first meal in town.
