About Santorini for Solo Travelers

The volcanic caldera island of white cubes and infinite blue — solo travelers find Santorini's famous sunset best experienced alone from a quieter perch, the ancient Bronze Age city of Akrotiri crowd-free, and the island's lesser villages their true reward.

Solo Travel Tips· Solo Friendly

Santorini is extraordinary even solo — the caldera sunset from Oia is one of the world's great solo spectacles, and the smaller villages (Pyrgos, Akrotiri, Megalochori) away from the tourist crowds are perfect for solo wandering. Rent an ATV to explore the island independently. The Akrotiri archaeological site (a Bronze Age Pompeii) is world-class and usually crowd-free. Shoulder season (April–May, September–October) is far better solo than summer.
