One of Thailand's most unusual natural attractions — a series of limestone waterfalls in Mae Taeng whose calcium-carbonate-coated rocks are so grippy that visitors can walk barefoot straight up the flowing cascade without slipping. A 90-minute drive from Chiang Mai, entirely free to enter, and one of the most exhilarating outdoor experiences in northern Thailand.

A series of 10 spectacular cascading waterfalls spread over 1.5km of rainforest inside Doi Suthep National Park, 27km from Chiang Mai city. Each tier has a swimming hole and the shaded forest trails are beautiful. The lower tiers are best for swimming; the upper tiers are quieter and more dramatic. Best visited on weekday mornings before tour groups arrive.
