Solo Travel Tips· Solo Friendly

Monteverde's cloud forest is one of Costa Rica's most unique ecosystems — the Curi-Cancha and Santa Elena reserves are excellent for solo wildlife spotting (quetzals, sloths, jaguarundis). The hanging bridges walk is stunning and self-guided. The night tour is one of the best solo wildlife experiences in Central America. Roads are rough; take a shared shuttle from La Fortuna rather than renting a car for this leg.
