Sunday Walking Street (Wualai)
Chiang Mai's best walking street market β Wualai Road comes alive every Sunday evening when the entire street becomes a pedestrianised market of northern Thai crafts, silverwork (the street is the historic silver-smithing quarter), handmade fabrics, street food, and live folk music. More local, more atmospheric, and less touristy than the Saturday market. Essential solo evening.

Saturday Walking Street (Tha Phae)
Chiang Mai's original walking street market on the iconic Tha Phae road leading to the famous Tha Phae Gate. Every Saturday evening hundreds of vendors sell handmade crafts, clothing, art, food, and trinkets. The gate and ancient moat provide a dramatic backdrop. Excellent street food stalls throughout. The best free evening activity in northern Thailand.
